Felix the fox made soup. He put in carrots. He put in potatoes. He put in onions. He tasted it. “Ouch! Too hot!” He waited five minutes. Then he tasted it again. “Still hot.” He waited ten minutes. Then he tasted it again. “Too cold.” He put it back on the fire. Then he tasted it again. “Too hot!” He waited again. A mouse watched from behind a cup. Felix walked to the window and said, “Soup is very difficult.” The mouse jumped onto the table. He tasted the soup. “Perfect,” said the mouse. He ate one spoon. Then another. Then another. When Felix came back, the bowl was empty. Felix gasped. “Where is my soup?” The mouse patted his belly. “It became mouse energy.” Felix said, “You ate my dinner!” The mouse smiled. “No. I solved your hot-and-cold problem.” Felix looked at the empty bowl. “That is not helpful,” he said.
